What is Sculptra?

Sculptra is an FDA-approved biostimulator that works to ignite your body's natural collagen production.

Sculptra is different from hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers because of its unique approach to tackling the root cause of aging. By stimulating a person’s own collagen production, lost volume is replaced gradually over time. Sculptra creates a very natural and refreshed appearance with not only subtle volume replacement but improvement in skin tone and texture.

What is it made of and how does it work?

Sculptra consists of biocompatible, biodegradable poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a compound that has been safely utilized in medical implants and dissolvable stitches for more than two decades.

Once injected, Sculptra embodies the synthesis process, restoring the inner structure of your skin (mainly through fibroblasts) and gradually boosts natural collagen production. As a result, you can expect improved skin texture, increased facial volume, softer lines and wrinkles and an overall Sculptra glow!

Benefits of Sculptra

One of the key benefits of Sculptra is its effects typically last longer than those of traditional fillers. Sculptra treatment can last up to two years and beyond. Since Sculptra works by stimulating the body's collagen production, it offers a younger-looking, more natural result over time.

Are you a good candidate for Sculptra?

Anyone that has collagen loss can be a candidate for Sculptra. The amount and frequency of treatment varies widely based on age, volume loss and skin condition but in many cases, a return to a more youthful and “Sculptra Glow” result is achieved after only 1-2 treatments. It is also highly recommended for those wanting to restore lost volume due to weight loss as well as adding fullness to a thin face and hollowed temples.

What areas can you treat with Sculptra?

- Enhancing volume and fullness in thin faces and hollow cheeks and temples

- Smoothing out facial folds, wrinkles, and lines

- Correcting deep folds and lines on the face and neck

- Gradually increasing volume in the temple, cheeks, chin, and jawline areas

- Revitalizing and improving overall skin texture and tone

- Enhancing the effects of skin treatments such as coupling it with microneedling

- Providing a natural complement to the effects of other injectable treatments like neurotoxins and traditional dermal filler

-Other parts of the body, including crepey arms, knees, chest and more.

Sculptra vs other fillers

Most traditional dermal fillers contain hyaluronic acid (HA) which acts as a cushion at the injection site to retain water and hydrate the skin. While HA is effective for softening fine lines and wrinkles, it offers a temporary solution that may require several touch-ups throughout the year. Sculptra's prolonged results mean touch-ups or additional treatments are not as frequent as they might be with other types of injectables.
